Project no.5 Advancing Genomics and RNA Science for Precision Medicine
We specialize in genomics and DNA science, focusing on the biology of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in human diseases. By bridging computational biology, evolutionary biology, and medicine, we aim to uncover RNA-related genetic risk factors, particularly within the Montenegrin population. Our mission is to foster collaborations between academia and industry, driving the development of RNA-targeted therapies.
Key Areas of Research and Innovation
Identification of Disease-Causing lncRNAs – Utilizing Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS), high-throughput screening, and reverse genetics to pinpoint lncRNAs linked to diseases.
Experimental Validation & Targeting – Investigating the role of primate-specific lncRNAs in diabetes, cancer, epilepsy, and other prevalent conditions.
RNA-Based Therapeutics – Developing next-generation RNA-based drugs aimed at targeting disease-causing lncRNAs.
Additionally, we are committed to biotechnological innovations that transform our understanding of chronic disease mechanisms and pave the way for groundbreaking therapeutic advancements in precision medicine.
